I have experienced some latency when running real time effects with Cubase. I have a SB live sound card, and i was wondering how i can set my latency. Can i do it in Cubase, and if so where do i set it. Thanks

Jan 30, 2003 05:03 pm Cubase work best with ASIO Drivers, which I think come with the Live now...go into the ASIO control panel and play around, make sure you are using the best drivers...

Jan 30, 2003 08:51 pm Otherwise, if you can't fix it that way. You can try this driver. emu10k1.tripod.com/_index.htm
Or go to www.americas.creative.com...asp?rd=download
and choose the card and OS you have and download the latest version of the driver package. I know when I let XP install it's version of the driver's for a SB Live it lost it's synth and other attribute's. So this may be the problem.
Jan 30, 2003 09:33 pm I goofed around with SX for a couple weeks, and I found that I got better results using the ASIO direct sound rather than the multimedia driver. I too have an SB Live. You might try that.

Jan 31, 2003 01:01 pm I know about the ASIO drivers but i was wondering how to set the latency, if that is even possible. Ive heard people say they have set their latency to a low number, like 5ms or sumthing like that. I've tried to download other ASIO drivers but i couldnt get them to work.
thanks
Jan 31, 2003 01:07 pm You kinda set latency playing with your buffers and such in the audio hardware control panel, but this can sometimes have very adverse effects, it's usually best to let the app profile your card and leave it be. Most modern apps profile it pretty well...at least commonly and well-known cards.
Feb 01, 2003 07:48 am Hello my friend.
For setting the ASIO latency in the SX just go
Devices / Device Setup / VST Multitrack
Select the Creative ASIO driver and press Control Panel. You can adjust there the latency.
However, your problem reminds me of my problems when i was using Soundblaster cards... The ASIO drivers SUCKS!!! Do not use them. You will discover many many problems (such as problematic recording out of sync, you can't hear VST Instruments playing realtime and others...)
Alternatively, go to the address
kxproject.spb.ru/index.php
where there is a spanish team of programmers who made BRILLIANT DRIVERS ASIO FOR SBLIVE CARDS for free of course, and will make you happy again!
Go for it!
