Pre amp suggestions

Can anyone recommend a good pre amp? Im looking to spend about $200. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

FMR's Really Nice Pre (RNP) is pretty solid....if ya want a bit more flexibility i'd go with the ART Pro Channel....tons of goodies with that one.

I second the RNP. It is a slightly nasal sounding (like a little rise in the 1k-2k range) compared to my better preamps, but that's cool for recording electric guitars. But they usually go for over $300 on Ebay. Then again, they are stereo, so that's like $150/channel.

The old British Joe Meek VC3Q is underrated. Has EQ and optical compression on board. The compressor is not fast, but sounds good.
