NEED TO BOOST LINE LEVEL

Anybody knows how I can boost a line level signal?

I have the AKG SR-40 Pro and it's 1/4" out to my Xenyx 1832 line input, the thing is even if the dial is all the way up on the receiver the signal is really low and no gain trim on the mic either. The unit is fine when I use 1/4 to XLR in the mic input. I've used line amps before but was only XLR connectors.

grabbed from inet site:

<begin grabbit>

Audio outputs bal. 1/4" jack, output level adjustable, at rated deviation: 500 mV rms.

<end grabbit>

can you up the output level, looks like you can. *edit* just re-read that you did this * end edit *

Also, 500mv seems low for line level. maybe turn down the output and use the 1/4 to xlr converter, and plug into a preamp. Just make sure you have the AKG output down, so you dont overdrive the preamp of the mixer.

Wow that's strange. Even though this will probably introduce more noise (or emphasize existing noise), you can try looping the signal back into another channel's preamp. Then you'll have 2 gain stages, and hopefully that'll give it enough gain.

The thing is I have to save all my mic inputs for wired mics. My option is to boost the signal, the exact opposite of a pad

Use the Audio Buddy. The other unit you posted the link to is more a turntable type booster.

I agree. It sounds like you just need a preamp that has more gain available on it. A lot of preamps just don't have that much gain available, but some have a bunch. The available gain boost should be listed in the product specs.
