I dont know anything about them, should i be using one, i have no idea..I have read the best way to get a good recording is to mic your amp rather than plugging directly into the recorder....I have a Shure SM58 but they say you should use a SM-57..What are your thoughts on this...I like using my Zoom 505 with distortion and when i plug directly into the Fostex it sounds like Crap. Do i need a direct box or should i just record with a Mic..
Thanks Rick

Jan 27, 2003 09:15 pm Ya, the 505 is not really meant for recording direct. You could get a little Sans-Amp or something that will go between the 505 and the Fostex. Otherwise, yes miccing the amp is also a good option. And the 57 is more suited for that work as opposed to the 58.

Q: Any tips for recording, Lead guitar, Bass, Drums?
(JL) Get good instruments... use SM58 on guitar and turn it up. Use DI and amp (Ampeg SVT) for bass (do not EQ). Drums are a whole trip - it depends what you want from them really.

Jan 28, 2003 09:05 pm I have seen 58's used, but not very often. they seem to loose a little that the 57 doesn't.
