ADAT XT Playback Problem

After recording a couple of songs using all 8 channels, when I rewind back to the first song
and only tracks 1-4 will playback. Tracks 5-8 do not show up on the meters and no sound coming out of the outputs. If I stop the tape at that point, shut the unit down and power it back up, all 8 tracks are restored and work properly. Move on to the next song and that works fine. Rewind to the first song and the problem reoccurs. And on and on. I also tried two different tapes and the same thing happens.
The heads have been cleaned with a dry cleaing tape and manually cleaned.
If anyone has any insite, it would be appreciated.

Jun 22, 2007 11:50 pm Yep, that is sounding like a software/firmware issue internal to the unit. Not likely a hardware problem, but could be.
I will assume you can see all meters and monitor the audio while recording, it just looses it during playback. Does it come back no matter were on the tape you stop?

If it is software related, how do you solve that as the sotware is all on an eprom. It's not like I can download new software.
Jun 26, 2007 10:04 pm Nope, that is something that will require a technician to do. I don't believe Alesis ever put updates out that were customer applied. IF the system has gotten corrupt it can only be fixed by the means that are described in the manual or by a qualified technician.
