Has anyone tried a two mic setup for recording vocals? I am making some experiences using my sm57 and 58 and the results are at least interesting. I am even trying to use variations of mic placement apllied to amps on vocals.

I often double or even triple mic a lot of stuff I do. It adds a lot of depth to the sound. I like to put one mic right on the speaker cone with guitar amps and put one up in the corner of the room facing the corner away from the amp, sometimes one right between those two mics. It gives nice room sound and such.

Been doin the multiple mic thing for year's. It works great, and like you said can give some interesting result's. don't be affraid to try putting them anywhere. I have even stuffed one in an oven, with the door open of course. And recorded a guitar amp facing into the oven. Hang a couple in the bathroom and record some vocal's or guitar, it can soudn really cool.

I've just recently wrapped up a recording session with my band and I've used an interesting set up for recording the lead vocal.

In the center, I started out with an SM 58 panned center in a common mic setup.

To the left, a SM57 panned 40% left at about 2 feet back from the 58, and on the right another 57 panned 40%right at the same distance back.

then I placed a couple more 57s on the left and right of our singer about 2 feet from the 58 facing each other and had those panned 100% left and right respectively.

The set up was totally amazing,it gave our singer a natural and full voice as well as a warm sound for a digital recording. It was pretty fun doing this, I got the inspiration from you guys. I even tried this set up when we did some acoustic songs just for fun with a couple acoustic guitars in the room with the singer., It worked wonders making it sound rich and totally 3 dimentional with out the nasty reverb effect.
