Sorry for putting up the urgent flag but ok, i checked out some yamaha hs50's a while back and they were great, all teh functions i needed, good size for my room and they sounded great, and ofcoures they perfectly fit my budget. But i waited too long and now their out, i cant even order them! So now the store stays they only have hs80's which r WAY too big for my room and my purposes and cost double. They also said they have only one pair of yamaha msp3's left. But i heard those in the radio station i work at, and im not too sure. The functions on those things r also way less then the hs50's which i really wanted because they ahve alot of room controls like trims and cuts and such. Anyhow, i need the monitors pretty soon and i guess i might get stuck with the msp3's and have to work them into my room.

How do u guys think the hs50 and the msp3 compare? How do you think the msp3 is standing alone? I just need monitors with a full spectrum and flat enough response so i can do my mixes, not mastering, so just a pair that will let me hear everything enough for me to put them into place not necessarily gettin that final cut.

Bare in mind i live in thailand and there isnt much choice, even the brands that u gusy say r the same price range plus all the insane taxes coming here make them way out of my range...

SORRY: i posted in the wrong section before

Sadly there will be a huge difference in those monitors. 70 watts total on the HS units which runs a 45 watt for the woofer and 25 watt for the tweeter. It is actually 2 separate amps in there. The mp unit sadly only has one 20 watt amp which crosses over at 3k which is not ideal for what you need. I don't really believe the spec that states the frequency response of 65Hz to 22kHz either. They might work alright if you incorporate a a small subwoofer. Do you have any of the M-Audio or Samson powered near fields available there? They carry some comparable units power wise that might be in your price range.

Thanx for the reply Noize.

Yeah thats wat i felt bout the msp3's. They dont sound good at all to me and they seem very i dont know the word... "bare minimum?"

Anyhow, i also wanted the hs50's because they have all teh room controls and they just seemed spec for spec what i needed. but ill check out those m-audio and samsons, the ONLY licensed m-audio shop in my country though is owned by total egomaniac. I swore never to buy his stuff after i got my delta 66 from him.

Ya, dB has a set of the Samson ReSolves or something along that name. He really likes em a lot. And I got Tuna a set of the M-Audio ones with the 5" woofer which is set up with the two separate amp deal as well and they sound stellar.
