They are playing the Xcel Energy Center, best venue in the area for concerts...I am stoked, the kids are at a sleepover, we have a night to ourselves, so it's a night out downtown, dinner, drinks and intense music from guys in weird blue suits.
Not bad for a last minute night out.

Mar 30, 2007 04:27 pm Very cool, I would like to catch there show sometime. Maybe vegas in the future. Have fun man, although a new daddy I now understand the rarity of a free night out :)
Mar 31, 2007 12:13 am I just got back, they did Baba Oriley, it was awesome, did some flyod from Animals, a little "Crazy Train"...man, what a audio/visual assault that show was...I'm tired, I need bed...
Mar 31, 2007 07:26 am OK, up after some sleep...
Great show, loved it, and real experience beyond just a "rock concert". We had pretty decent seats, they have a very talented band backing them, and of course their home-made percussion instruments were superb.
The Vegas show is bigger and better than anything they do on their tours, I plan to see it next time I am there, I had a friend who saw one of those and he said it was really unbelievable.
The Xcel is a great venue, the best locally, so the sound was great, video screen (3 of 'em) were really interesting and their open act, some dude from San Fransisco, was very impressive DJ type work, Mike Relm
, was really fun.

May 02, 2007 01:48 pm Just grabbed me some tickets as well. Floor seats row 7 in the center. Gonna be awesome. Bummer is that it isn't until September. However, I'm also seeing Roger Waters and that is coming up next month. Man they sure test your patience with how early you have to buy tickets.
May 02, 2007 02:10 pm wow, dude, nice seats.
you will love it, it's a good show...
I was considering Waters...and want to see Black Sabbath on Sunday, but their opening acts are Megadeth and Machine Head, so, well, I'll pass...

May 02, 2007 03:03 pm Wow Machine Head, now that is a blast from the past... actually they all are. I'd love to see Mustaine play as well. He is a real personable guy (or at least seems to be). Who is singing for Black Sabbath?
May 02, 2007 03:17 pm The singer is why I want to see them:
Ronnie James Dio! The only guy I have ever heard that sounds BETTER live than in the studio...he ROCKS. and the show is on my 40th birthday...which would make it doubly cool and a fun way to recapture my lost youth. ROFL I told my boss ahead of time I wouldn't be at work on the 7th, I plan to be in jail for something stupid.
It's Geezer, Tony, Ronnie and Vinnie Appice on drums...dream lineup.
Megadeth does nothing for me, some of the music is OK but it'd change the makeup of the crowd a bit to a point where I lose interest. I have always seen Dave Mustaine as a pseudo-intellectual, personally...like the smartest guy in a group of idiots. Good guitar player though.
Machine head would be OK, but I just wanted to see Sabbath...last time I saw them was with Ian Gillan, and THAT was incredible.

May 02, 2007 03:40 pm Wow, I'd love to see Dio too! Rainbow rocks. That guy can really sing! They're calling the band Black Sabbath though and not Heaven and Hell?
May 02, 2007 06:54 pm It's the "Heaven and Hell" tour...if I understand correctly...
May 04, 2007 03:41 pm Hmmm, ya, the band is actually heaven and hell cuz Osbournes (more Sharon than Ozzy I suspect) were not going to let them use "Black Sabbath" because "there is only one Black Sabbath".
That disappoints me in Osbournes. I mean, Ozzy's years were great, but damn Dio made some righteous music with the guys too...

May 04, 2007 04:34 pm dude, don't be too disappointed 'cause it's going to be a great show regardless.
May 04, 2007 04:45 pm Yeah, it will rock, though I decided not to go, it will rock, but it disappoints me that the Asbourne's are so petty.

May 04, 2007 06:30 pm Although I'm a big Sabbath fan, I'm not sure that I like the idea of Ozzy holding the name...
Didn't he get fired? Wasn't that a long time ago? Haven't there been five singers since he was there?
Ozzy and Dio are the two I liked...."Heavan and Hell" was an amazing album.
Sharon Osbourne's got some nerve.
Side note:
Bev Bevan was so not Black Sabbath . I loved The Move, and ELO, but come on! That's like John Oates joining Metallica.

May 04, 2007 06:32 pm Oh, forgot...
I saw Sabbath with Dio in the early 80's a couple of times. He sucked singing "Black Sabbath"....You need Ozzy on that one. Same applies for Snowblind, and Paranoid.

May 04, 2007 07:17 pm I wonder if this has anything to do with Ozfest tickets being free this year...hmmmm
