Guitar sound like bass plugin?

Hey

Im new here. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or answers for my question?

My Situation is that i am currently using Line 6 guitar port and Cubase SX.

I want to record some bass tracks..but i do not own a bass guitar.
I dont want to buy one right now, and i dont want to just play with an octave pedal and eq to get a dirt sound for a "bass".

Does anyone know of a way of doing this?
Is there a Plugin for Cubase sx for windows that i could use, vst or direct x?

Is there anything i could download to use in guitarport to do this?

thanks
Santa

i've never done this but it would make sense to

plug single strings, and EQ it so the Bass is really
high?

Double posting won't help get your questions answered more quickly, but...

Try recording an electric guitar direct, or micing an acoustic guitar and play the bass line like you would on a bass. Then pitch shift the track down an octave. It actually does sound quite a bit like a bass. Then add compression and whatever other effects you normally use for your bass tracks and it should come out at least somewhat convincing.

There are some VST plugins out there which purport to do what you are asking. I haven't used them yet, but I saw them the other day when I was messing around on the VST site.

Try this link: www.audiomastermind.com/b...-5886988-1.html

Stienberg used to supply a bass guitar pluggin with Cubase. It was a VSTi and it sounded rather good really. I can't recall the name at the moment but when time permits I will have a look for it as I still have it, just not installed. Otherwise you can have a look through the synths at KVR. www.kvraudio.com
They will have a ton of them to look through. And you will find both DXi and VSTi as well.

I found it. Go here and get the VB1 plugin and you will be good to go. It a plain type bass you can adjust for fretless and move the pickup config and such. As well as were it it is picked and so on.
ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Download/Legacy_Plugins/Pc/VSTi_VB1

Just copy and paste the address in your browser and it will take you straight to the ftp page.

One more hand for the pitch shifting. Quick and easy, good for demoing stuff, but a tad nasty.

Right click on your audio - Processing - Pitch Shift.
