Hi there,
Im pretty new to recording, did abit in school a few years ago and i do abit with my band.
Ive just purchased an IBM T40 laptop and an EMU 1616m audio interface. Ive installed the drivers and software. I connected it altogether and plugged my guitar in, I know that its all working because the emu software mixer DSP thing was showing input and when i changed effects I could hear it from the monitors.
The problem is when I try to record, I cant. In sonar I select the input with "Emu" in the name....but the program isnt recieving anything.

Sorry if thats quite lame... Its just i cant even remember selecting inputs when ive recorded before... I just installed software, and recorded... So any help at all would be cool. Even just some links to help pages, guides all that kind of thing would be great.

Thanks!

The main thing you need is to read-up on Patchmix use by going to

www.soundonsound.com/sos/...emupatchmix.htm

Beyond that, get into the pdf material that came with the 1616 and do the Sonar LE tutorial. The main thing to remember is to insert a Peak Level Meter in each strip (so you can "see" whether you have signal or not), and to insert an ASIO send in each strip you're using for input, in order for the recording app to be able to "see" it...

I assume you are using the cardbuss intreface seeing as it is a laptop. Make sure your connections are good between the breakout box and the cardbuss.

But I will go along with jmail here. You need to dig deep into the manual for the Emu interface. As far as I'm concerned that Patchmix is just plain a junk way of running an interface. It is confusing and makes the user do way to much to get a track to record in their software.

This thing is supposed to have 16 inputs. You should have way more then just one option that says EMu on it. It does sound like you need to read up on the patchmix part in the manual before you will get anywhere with it.

Add a send under the applied effcts in patchmix. Make sure your program reads the send coming in on the track . Check out the sound im getting ! www.myspace.com/kgmobile
