I am currently runnig a Flat Screen 19" Monitor LCD from an On-board video card. I want to install a Video card and run a 2nd monitor, but a 17" CRT. Adobe Audition 2.0 has a function that allows Maximum room, utilizes dual monitors. Can I do this?? Will the monitors work together being different sizes, if I keep the Video Resolution the same for both??

Sep 08, 2006 09:51 am It should work, yes, but it'll look funny...with many dual-card drivers each screen can have different resolutions and stuff...

Sep 08, 2006 08:47 pm Yep, it should work. I was as well asking questions of a tech the other day regarding running dual minters while using a KVM switch. And gladly found out it will work just fine as I only need the dual moniter set up on one of the PC's on the KVM. I was informed my NVidea card would run just fine that way, as well it could run one LCD and one VGA moniter if I so choose. And he stated it would work with differant size moniters as well.
Sep 21, 2006 03:28 pm You can do dual-monitors on a computer, yes. However, I don't think it will work using an onboard and a secondary video card, as they're two different drivers running the cards. It could be possible using 3rd-party software (the name escapes me), but a more elegant solution would be to simply purchase a video card with dual-monitor support (e.g. two vga/dvi ports and the appropriate adapters).
The problem/s you're going to run into is the 19" LCD most likely has a resolution of 1280x1024, and a viewable space of the entire 19", whereas the CRT's viewable space will be only 15", so in order to make it not look ridiculous when you move a window from one monitor to the other, you'd have to run the 17" at a lower resolution.
Basically, you'll probably get quite annoyed by the smaller, non-LCD monitor and the annoyance would most likely negate any advantage you get from multiple monitors. On a related note, CRT's spray out tons of interference, which your pickups on your guitar can "pick up" (sorry for the pun) from 5+ feet away, whereas the LCD doesn't have this problem.

Sep 22, 2006 07:41 am Well, it's looking like I may have to break down and purchase a 2nd LCD 19" if I'm gonna do this right. I can get a dual output video card for less than $50, so that shouldn't be a problem either... but that monitor, ahhh I will not pay the cable bill and get more recording done, hehe.

Sep 22, 2006 06:25 pm My dual monitor set up is just two video cards, a nvidia one for the main monitor that I look at all the time, and a crappy video card I got from someone to run the scond monitor. It all works fine, all I had to do was install teh second card, plug in the monitor, and turn her on. windows automatically sensed that I was running dual monitors.

Sep 28, 2006 08:10 am I ran dualies for quite a white until I ran out of desktop space.
Also, I realized that when you have 2 monitors your computer desktop is larger so you tend to go crazy and let EVERYTHING sit there. Really slows speeds down.
