I am going to some MMA/NHB fights tonight at a local club that recently opened. They normally have live music on the weekends unless there are UFC fights or something. So I figured I'd check their schedule to see what is before or after the fights...lo and behold, what do I see...who do you suppose is playing there tonight...

Quiet Riot. Playing a little 800-1000 personal room...

Cool, still should be fun to see, if not pay for.

Actually, that'd be pretty cool wouldn't it...

Last time I saw QR was around 82 or 83 opening for Black Sabbath on their Born Again tour with Ian Gillan singing, Black Sabbath was AWESOME, but they had a stand in drummer that was great, since Bill Ward was sick, like he usually was...

Is this the live fights, or televised?

Hey dB,

Was Randy Rhoads playing with QR when you saw them? Man, that would've been awesome to see. If QR were opening for Black Sabbath, I wonder if that is how he came to know Ozzy.

They're live fights, me and Diane have ring side (er, well, cage side) seats. Got 'em from Fightshop, the new fight gear store in the place our gym used to be...I think you met Tim and Grant (the owners) at the UFC fights last month didn't ya? Not sure if any of my buddies are fighting or not...

Next weekend is UFC 59, Noize, it looks like it'll be a good card, then in May UFC 60 is on, Royce Gracie is fighting Matt Hughes, thats gonna rock...since I am a member of the Royce Gracie JiuJitsu Network... :-)

BH, no, it was Carlos Cavazo, Randy had already bailed out...a few years later I bought the Carlos-endorsed Washburn A-10 which I still have! :-)

And Gillan sang for them then, at that time I don't believe Sab and Oz got on very well...

Lucky dog. If I had time tonight I wouldnt mind seeing the live one. But seeing 59 will be good as well. Although seeing QR wouldnt be bad either.

BH, I got to see QR when Randy was with them. It was a pretty differant band then. But Carlos filled his shoes pretty well considering, Randy wasnt really allowed to stretch out with QR like he did with Ozzy.

Oh, and don't forget to "feel the noise" while you're there . On second thought.... eewwww... that kind'a takes on a different meaning 'round these parts .

Born Again is one of those albums that I hated the first time thru, the second, thrid and four I liked it more...today I still think it's up there among their very best works.

Oh, and Hue, I watched a lot of Spike last night too, man, some of those knockouts in the "Ultimate Knockouts" show were...well, the ultimate...OUCH.

I didn't watch the Ultimate Fighter 3 premeire tho, I have just grown to really dislike Tito Ortiz, he's just really turned in to kind of a punk, but man, can he kick ***.

It's pretty cool . I never really got into boxing, or kick-boxing, but the way they set these fights up, it just seems cooler . There's deffinately some bad-*** mo-mos into this, too... they keep y'a wondering: 'man, when is this guy gon'na drop' .

hehehe, hell, I train with a few fighters, and yeah, they all got a screw loose. I train with them, I can hold my own pretty well with a few of them, but man, ya gotta have a different mind set. We all do the same training, the big difference is they actually step into the cage, I have considered it, and still may, but it cetainly isn't on the top of my to-do list. :-)

Wow the last time I saw Ian Gillan was in Deep Purple doing a demo of Marshall gear, it was right in your face stuff.A guy out of the audience jammed with them on the Hammond on a couple of songs.Ritchie Blackmore,Ian Paice,John Lord,Roger Glover and Gillan produced such awsome stuff that affected many people.

I got to see Deep Purple in their prime. The LOUDEST band in the world at the time. Deep Purple, Led Zep and the Who were all fighting to see who could provide the loudest concert experiance. Looking back it wasnt all that bright of an idea. Lots of hearing loss back then. Guitar amps and such werent fed through the PA back in the day. It was stacks of Marshalls or Fenders jump leaded and loud. But man what a show it would be. I got to see them all on their very first US tours. And honestly Deep Purple was the best show you could see back then. Pure loud rock and roll.

When I was still drag racing and building cars to street race I made and 8 track with nothing but Deep Purples Hiway Star on it. People would just look at me like I was nuts. Then they would be watching my tailights.

Noize, that is just SO hardcore !!!

Much rahspect !

I still believe if I had to choose ONE album to listen to the rest of my life, it would be DPs Made In Japan . It still amazes me every time I listen to it . heh I remember when CDs first came out, it was the first one I bought, after getting a player . It pretty much ruined every studio album they did for me, though... except Perfect Strangers, of which Knocking At Your Back Door has what I would deem as one of the most intense, and well versed hard-rock guitar solos of all time in it .

Sorry, I get a bit carried away when it comes to Sabbath, and Purple ! heh

Hue, Made in Japan was definately DP's finest shining hour. I burnned through several copies of it on vinyl. Still own one on vinyl. The live version of Lazy on there is amazing. In my highschool, if you couldnt whistle the entire thing you were not worthy. That tune is what made me tear my B3 apart to modify it to sound like Jon Lords.

Perfect Strangers as well was great.

And thanx for the respect on that. Lots of guys didnt understand the way that tune just made you want to go faster and faster. Especially if it was playing loud!

No appologies needed either, they are absolutely worthy of getting hyped over.
