Same for me, I was there yesterday and was like 'dang'...

I kinda wonder if Adobe is trying to build a mega-multimedia software empire...

I always wondered why they bought Syntrillium's Cool Edit and haven't really developed anything on it...I was hoping they'd come out with a more advanced version that could interact with todays standard use software types, but my optimism isn't much anymore that they will even develop anything more than what they have....

Audition 2.0 is a total re-write and it is awesome now!

I think they bought CoolEdit more for background technology to add to Premeire, to take their video product to the next level moreso than get into the audio market much. But that is just my take on it.

I agree tho, I suspect They just want to be the industry standard in every media related verticle they can...now they own Flash...not to mention Director, Dreamweaver (HomeSite by proxy) and others...

if you don't use it, who cares, it's not like Audition is ever going to be any sort of industry leader...not bashing it, it just won't be.

Sometimes I find it contradictory when you make statements about alternative non-industry leading applications being just as powerful or just as efficient as THOSE leading the industry...(aka: little brother syndrome)

Then in another post you turn around and say using something thats not an industry leading application is no big deal because it will never be an industry leader...

I know your not bashing it, and I know Audition will never touch the industry, I have known that for years...

But whether you believe it or not, you are being slightly hypocritical...

Not contradictory at all, I never said it wasn't powerful or functional, or that it was wrong to use...hell, few of the apps I use are considered "industry standard".

What I DID say is that if YOU don't use it, there is no reason you should know 2.0 was out...and it's not industry standard so it's not like it'll be posted on all the recording forums of the world when an update comes out...

I don't see anything hypocritical about that at all...

However, if you DO use Audition, then it would be in your best interest to know, my comments were based on the assumption that you don't, since the greater percentage fall with those odds.

I never said it was a bad app cuz it isn't standard...I just said it would never be, passing no judgement on it. From what I read and hear it's a great app...

Now I look in your Bio and you DO use Audition, so then I would say Adobe's customer marketing needs some improvement :-)

Deebs...

I wasn't claiming that you said it wasn't powerful nor did I even comment on the functionallity of the app...

I was irked by the fact that you are the only person who taught me that guys like can use less pricey stuff and get the same results...

And here I am with AA 1.5, a program I have used since the CEP days and you replied with the "who cares if you dont use it, it wont be an industry leader" LOL...I was baffled.

In my eyes you are "Mr.You Dont Need Industry Leading Gear" and now your saying who cares if you don't use a certain app because it wont be industry leading...Thats where my hypocrite comment came from...

I know your not ripping it 100%, and I know its nowhere close to being a name outside of us home markets...

:)

OK, well, now you are calling me something I am not...if I didn't say it wasn't a good product, and I didn't say it was a bad thing to use, how on earth am I being hypocritical saying that you shouldn't care if a new version comes out if you don't use it? That makes no sense.

I don't use Audition, therefore, I couldn't care less if I new version came out, other than perhaps to post a note here so other people know...I also don't drive a Hummer, so why would I care if they get recalled? I also don't live in Iowa, so I don't care if their taxes get raised...I also don't use an iPod so I don't care if they just added video features to it...I don't use Logic either, or ProTools (which IS industry standard) and really take no interest in making sure I know when they release new versions...Multiquence is a simply little shareware multitracker, as is Magix, but I hardly care when new versions of those are released.

You could accuse me of being thoughtless, and perhaps self-important, but hypocritcal, no way.

I watch for new releases of Sonar, some various plugins, a few audio editors and SoftSynths, and really, only even then if I am waiting for a specific feature in the new version.

I have always, and will always encourage people to not be swayed by "industry standard" and just use what they can afford and what works for them...that doesn't mean I am being hypocritical but personally not caring if a new version comes out...if I had to keep up on new versions of every non-standard app out there I'd get even less sleep than I already do.

...actually (not trying to stir the pot) Audition IS an industry standard in the radio industry. I'm not sure why it is the software of choice for radio though. Myself, I use it because it is all I know. I don't really have the time or inclination to learn another application. I've really got my hands full as it is right now. Just trying to learn Reason and MIDI is putting my little brain into overload.

First up...I haven't called you anything, so chill on that implication...If I wanted to call you something I would make it known...If anything I am hypothesizing...

You are correct...You do not use Audition, therefore you don't care...I get it now. I wasn't knocking your pov. I was irked then baffled...Now I am good.

HOWEVER...If thats the point you were making, then why state the obvious? Its not like Hunter and I were on this full-out Adobe pimping mission in this thread telling people to go get it...which would force you to say what you said...

Hunter said it was cool..and I didn't know it dropped, and that was that...Your comment wasn't necessary any way I look at it...

Lord knows if I dropped on saying "I am not a Sonar user so I dont give a damn..." You'd think I was complete ***...

There, you called me slightly hypocritical...which is what I was defending...

You had said you didn't even know the new version was out, I replied by saying "if you don't use it, who cares", not knowing that you DID use it...I wasn't saying I didn't give a damn, I said if you don't use it, why would you...

jeezuz, what's the big f'in deal...

Please accept my most humble apologies for saying an off-the-cuff comment on my own forum...I realize nobody else ever does that and I should refrain.

Its no big deal...we're just two hard headed Minnesotans...

I guess I don't see why anyone would comment about a new release if they weren't using it in any way.

Well, beleive it or not I am with you...The only thing keeping me from being "married" is a license.

Otherwise if you were a fly on the wall in my house you wouldn'tbe able to tell the difference between our households...

Probably why I got chippy as well...

Hunter that actually sounds nice...

Something long overdue for deebs, noize and myself...

Between my recent move...completely finishing the basement, living in half a house, and my gal reaching her third trimester of pregnancy...A brew sounds really good

LMAO...

No I can drink...however I feel REALLY bad x2 because theres nothing she can do to take the edge off...So being that I love her sometimes I resist so we can be in the same boat...

My gal is an alcoholic (via genetics)...She went stone cold sober 3-4 months before her pregnancy, so the pregnancy is helping keep her on the wagon...

When I drink, she says she doen't care but when I actually drink in front of her I feel like I am eating a box of twinkies in front of the dieting fat kid trying to kick junk food....

Didnt BeerHunter mention something about a cold frosty one?

That is mighty good of you on the not wanting to drink in front of here. Hope it helps in the end as well. Having kids sure changed my party habbits. Well at least the last 2 did anyway.

But indeed, the meeting of the beers sound good. We do need to try and hook up one of these days.
