So I got a free copy of Acid Studio. I'd appreciate opinions on this experiment. Just using the stock samples that came with it, tried a little messing around with things just getting my feet wet. I've never used loop software before, it was kind-of fun. Anyway, here's the link, the song is "Acid Test":

Thanks in advance!

Mar 20, 2006 09:21 pm I'll listen later, right now I just wanna hear it due to the unspoken tie with the Grateful Dead...the ol' Acid Test tapes are the bomb...

Mar 20, 2006 10:57 pm I will give it a better listen tommorrow. But on quick listen it sounds like you were having some fun there.
Mar 21, 2006 05:34 pm Heh, I was really into the Dead in my youth...Lived in SF, Marin... Saw them a number of times at Berkeley (I didn't attend there, I only showed up for concerts and riots)...
This is just another experiment...
Mar 21, 2006 07:12 pm Sounds quite cool Beatle...nice build up, nice use of stocky samples and nice beat ye got going on.
Nice big crescendos too...obviously ye were just messing but it sounds very cool - I reckon, if I ever get the time, I'll get me Acid Pro and mess with loops, sounds like a lorra fun!!
Nice one.
Coco.

Mar 21, 2006 08:29 pm It almost bordered on trance there for a little bit. I liked ths choice of loops and the effects you applied to the sounds. It made it interesting indeed. And the mix sounded great as well.
I agree with coco, that if you jumped in head first for a bit you would indeed get on splenidly with Acid. It is a great tool to mess about with. You would porbably have a ball manipulating stuff in Project 5 as it goes much deeper than Acid does. But for what it does do Acid is a great program without a doubt.
Mar 22, 2006 05:49 pm Thanks for the listen. Thought I'd see what looping was all about. I'm going to try making some of my own bits and pieces then work with them in Acid. Also, I think I'm going to try working with some real atmospheres, like city sounds and nature. We'll see what happens.... thanks again...

Mar 23, 2006 11:54 pm You are just jumping in head first arent you? YOureally should grab the demo for Project 5 V2 and see if you can run it on your PC. I think you would really enjoy it if your liking using Acid.
Mar 24, 2006 11:41 am I think Acid is pretty cool. I'm getting interested in Sonar, but I'll need a new computer. One at work does the job, temporarily... just to check out the software :)
Mar 24, 2006 11:44 am I used Acid and Vegas (Acid's big brother) for a while and they are usable and cool, but limitations prevented me from doing some things...I was never a big loop user so that feature might mean more to others than me...Sonar has been my main app for a few years now, and now it has great loop handling features as well...
