Anyone had experience with the Sony ECM-999PR Stereo Microphone?
I got one on eBay and it has a low signal and severe amounts of hiss compared to other mics I've used on my system. Could it be damaged?

Mar 19, 2006 10:28 pm I own that one and its big brother. They are nice mic's, that one is commonly used for high quality recording of bootlegs shows.
You do know that it is a condensor mic and requires a battery to power its internals. First thing is to check and make sure youhave a battery installed, and it is good. That may be this hiss coming from cranking up your input to get a signal.
Also you do know it must be plugged into a stereo input for it to work correctly. Pluggin it into a mono input such as a mic input on your PC will cause severa n oise and possible damage to the mic itself.
