Acoustic Guitar Construction

Some of you may know that I have built a forum for a buddy of mine who teaches guitar. Well, recently a somewhat well-known and respected luthier by the name of Kevin Gallager, founder of Omega Guitars, has announced a missions trip to Africa he's gonna be involved in to support orphaned children.

For the trip, he's building an acoustic guitar which is to auctioned off after the trip and the proceeds donated to the shelter he's visiting. He's also very generously decided to document his progress on the forum with pictures. Personally, I find the process pretty darn fascinating and thought some of you might as well.

They're on a couple different threads-

Mike, the first 2 were grand looking indeed. But that last one of him doing the rose inlay was stunning. As you stated in that forum he must really have a steady hand to saw out the pieces for that rose. And his expalnation of how he did it was great as well. Not many would take the time to lay it out like that for someone.

I would love to see that guitar when finished.

Thanx for posting this Mike, it was very enlightening and nice to look at as well.

Thanks for looking, Noize.

I can't wait to see it also when it's done. Actually, there's a couple on the forum who I'm sure will be privilaged enough to play it.

I agree, the inlay demo is my favorite also. I just can't imagine the patience it takes to do that.

I know. I actually feel quite honored to have him posting on there period. I know he's done custom work for some pretty big names, although it seems he's humble enough to refrain from putting them in his profile. I can't be 100% sure, but I was watching the Eric Clapton Crossroads special that came on PBS a few months back and James Taylor came on. I coulda swore I saw the Omega symbol on the headstock. It definitely looked like Kevin's style. I may have to ask him about that.

...speaking again about inlays, here's another one he posted which shows a couple more of his works.
