New song, live Fieldstock

I put one of our fieldstock songs in my profile:

www.homerecordingconnecti...sic&id=1125

It's live, and kinda rough, but was great fun. I was playing bass with this group.

I recorded the whole 2 nights of material onto my dell 600m, through a Tascam US-122 with 2 Samson R21 mics (cheap sm58 copies). I was 50ft back from the stage so the high end could tame out.

I compressed it some, to increase volume, with a master limiter to keep it controlled, but am not going to do much else, as it's only stereo.

Comments are welcome, but just wanted to post it up, for ya's to listen to.

Enjoy.

pjk, that is way to kool. And it sounded pretty good considering the way you say it was recorded. Kinda reminds me of some of the Phish bootlegs out there.

I used to love playing the big outdoor parties. Just jammin for hours was great. It sounds like you guys were having a good time though, and the playing is great. Loved the guitar licks.

Now you make me wanna hear more of that stuff. You should make it downloadable as taht one would be in a playlist here for certain.

Sounds like one good time. The audience is pretty chatty...must be late in the event after the beer flows and makes everybody forget to shut the hell up and listen :D

thanks guys, yeah, we have fun with those. I've got ~ 1.5 hours of this band to process, and then another, second night to process as well. So there's lots to work through.

I'll make it DL, i wasn't thinking too hard when I posted it (midnight, after doing code)

We played around 10, or 10:30, i think. So people were 'warmed up' by then.

The mics were around 50ft from the stage, so there's lots of people between. I like to keep the 'live' feel, with people talking and such.

Unfortunately, I only took pictures of other people playing, and didn't get anything good of us when we were playing. I've got no other photographers around.

Very impressive recording considering the conditions . Everytime I tried this recoding technique, I got mud from the room... obviously not a problem with this . I hope I can make it to the next one !

Thanks man, being outside is the key, and away from the source, to let the sound open up.

I'm guessing Sept 2 & 3, 2006, for this year. Saturday and Sunday.

We got a band from houghton lake last year, and we've had bands (or parts of bands) from downstate a few times. Just fun for who-ever.

In 2004, I played guitar with our $$$ band in the afternoon, then played bass with the group posted here in the evening. What a kickin day that was.

PJK, thanx for makin it a DL. I grabed it and its my live stuff playlist. I love it more today. Just a very kool jammin feel to it. Like I said above, very Phish like in a way. Makes me wanna hear more of that stuff.

no prob, nice to see it being recieved. i got around 15 or so songs from the first night to process, and the writer/ guitarist; Steve Bruder was itchin to get this out as a live CD for locals, but time constraints on other projects (plus house/studio) didn't afford me much time for a non-profit project.

Heck, I already got a few of those already =).

Anyway, not that I've gotten one to work pretty well, it should be quicker for the next ones to get processed.
