M-Audio 2496 installation prob

Hi Again

I have recently installed an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 sound card into a PCI slot on my Asus A7N266-VM based system, running WinXP home SP2. I wanted to keep the on board sound installed for every day use, DVDs system sounds etc but have the new card for home recording.

The original install from CD didn't seem very smooth with various combinations of running setup, rebooting and using XP wizard to get the thing installed.

I have installed the latest XP drivers from the website. The weird thing is that although I can record from the device, if I go into Sound Control -> Properties -> Audio tab I have a number of options in the playback list but if I click on playback there is nothing in the list and playback is disabled.

If I try to look at the soundcard's recording properties through my multitracking software (n-track) it says that no recording device is installed, but the strangest thing is that I have got input in n-track and have recorded successfully. So something is wrong.

The onborad sound has the latest realtek 97 drivers installed

Any help appreciated, thanks

Martin

I would suggest disabling the RealTek thing and trying to use the Audiophile for everything, and at least see if that works.

Also, before installing the new drivers, did you uninstall the current ones? That's usually a decent idea.

Just FYI

I just talked to M-Delta tech support (who were very helpful)

It turns out the audiophile 2496 does not use the windows mixer control

So it is to be expected that the Win controls are disabled.
