I did it on my mg16/4. Sent the output 1 & 2 of my 1010lt back into channel 15 & 16 of my mixer. I plugged my engineer headphones into the headphone jack on the mixer. I then plugged my headphone amp for tracking into CTRL room outs, I think.

I tapped channel signal out from the inserts. Then just run the faders to hear what you want in the monitors. I had the monitor solution plugged into the mains out.

Worked a treat.

If you're doing something different, then you'll have to be pretty specific as to how everything is routed.

lemme give that a try, i dont have a headphone amp what should i do about this? BTW why do you plug your outs into two channels instead of one? do you have four outputs? Also, why do you plug your headphones to the jack in the mixer if you use a headphone amp

On an MG series mixer (and on most mixers, I think) there are several stereo line-level inputs. So on one channel, there will be line-level inputs for 2 mono signals (left and right). Its one channel, but each of the two inputs gets its own number.

I think that it'll be OK if you don't have a headphone amp if you're using your mixer to monitor. Your mixer should serve the same purpose, as long as it has an output labeled "headphones". That output should have the proper level of amplification for listening in a set of phones.

oh, duh! i see what you mean about the inputs. I'm still not able to get headphones though. i have my soundcard outs to the 15/16 input, my RCA rec outs to soundcard ins. My ST out to my tascam ins. my tascam outs to my tascam speakers. i cant figure what im doin wrong and i cant get my heaphones to make any sound. I do get sound out of my speakers though.

..and this is using your headphone out on your mixer? If so, (at least on my mixer) everything that passes through the mixer goes to my headphone out. The only thing that this would be (in my case) is that the headphone out volume control is turned all the way down. Or I guess the headphones are screwed.

well, neither, i have to set it up with my sound card outs going to the 2tr in instead of the 15/16 input to get them to work. dont know why this works and the other way doesnt but this is the only thing i can think of to do.
