Ok so heres the issue
right now im mainly using the original mbox for recording
as everyone and their mom knows its only got two inputs
but my friend also has a 6 track portastudio with 4 inputs.
but i still want to be control the snare and kick in p.t. seperate from the rest of the kit

so i was thinking
run the kick and snare directly into p.t.
but record the rest of the kit onto tape
and then from tape into p.t.

would that sound too weird? mixing analog an digital like that.
or does it sound like a good plan?

thanks guys.

You can do that. I have. It will be hard to drag the two tracks in sync with eachother though. When you hit record, get your drummer to click his sticks 4 times before he starts playing. When you bring the files back into pro tools you'll be able to line up the transients of the clicks and bring them all back in phase.

thanks. i would have never thought of that.

actually no.
i would have but i it would be in 60 years
im seventy seven sitting in a rocking chair on my alabama porch plucking away at my banjo when it hits me like a ton of bricks.
eureka i says.
and then cardiac arrest.
the end.

thankfully now i dont have to go that way.
thank you colonel.
