merging midi tracks...

i have a project im doing in cubase that has too many midi tracks. playback is getting hung up. i would like to merge that data into one track. this should be possible--anyone know how to do this?

forty, I usually freeze em now in Sonar or P5. I think there is something similar in Cubase, but I dont know what it is called. Otherwise, in the old days before the Freeze function I would just mix them down to audio one or two at a time. I assume your using soft synths for those midi tracks?

yes. i never heard of freeze though ... would rather not mix em down first. this was dumb. i should have just recorded everything layered on one track. i thought there would be an easy way to just toss that data in, though.

Thats the hard part with the midi stuff, once its on its own track its hard to merge it, unless your going to save a plain midi type 0 or 1 file. Then it merges it all down to one track and keeps the channel and patch info for each instrument on the track. But thats mostly for using General Midi implementation anyway.
