Anybody have any experience with these? It was recommended that I get these for aerial mics for my drums.

Yup, fine little small diaphram condenser.

Overheads on kit, acoustic guitar, brass, reed, piano are all good applications. Nice all around instrument mic. They don't do badly as room mics either.

Few weekends ago i used two of them to mic overheads for drums. Worked out great! We also do use em for room mics at our practice place..too.

I know this is going to sound a bit absurd, but then I am the king of that.

Samson, yes I said Samson has come out with a compareable mic, not sure of the model number but I will get it. And after talking to several peeps, and listening to them. I gotta say I am amazed, they indeed almost sound better then the o12's. But I am guessing it is just they sound differant. They are at a very affordable price as well for a matched pair. The Oktava's are getting hard to find a good matched set, but Samson it appears is getting set to be a serious contender on the budget end of the pro audio market. I did get to liten to a pair, and honestly, I could not tell the differance. Granted, I use an older pair of o12's so they are going to be a bit better quality then the newer ones. But I would definately look into them.

If you could let me know what model they were I would appreciate it. I might consider them for additional room mics. thanks

I have a matched pair of them and they're great for drum overheads and whatever else. Top notch sound.

Another underated, underestimated, mic is the blessed little MXL 603 Magomy. Kinda blew my socks off. Not quite the M012, and a little on the crisp side; but still suprisingly accurate. We're letting them go right now for $49 a hit. Good god, for that price their simply fabulous!

Funny after I wrote that I bopped around MF a little and I see they arn't offering the 603's; Only the 993's.

It's kinda a 'get em in the door' special from what I can see.

Things are going pretty good here. Gettin more groups (6 now) in the studio for albums. A lot of projects going at once. But that is good as they are all slow movers. They fit pretty nicely between each other. Thinking of starting a consortium of sorts. All the groups get along well and have different prefered genre's. We, as a group are starting to 'borrow' talent back and forth without any anomosities. Real nice situation all in all.

As per perse' 'job', I'll write ya'll something on email..... nuff said.

bbbitter, the Samson model is the C02. I just picked up a pair from Music Go Round. They are shooting em out at $119.00 for that mtached pair. I would suspect they are not perfectly matched, but here that is a moot point. Ben said they are going to be in short supply for the next six weeks, so if you find them in a MGR or what ever store grab em quick if ya need em. The price is going to remain for awhile so that isnt an issue. Just availability is whats going to be.

Oh and by the way. They are absolutely tiny. Smaller then my 012's. Look very easy to place on a drum kit or were ever you want. And they come in a nice hard case with shock mounts as well.

Ya Walt, I am sure that is what it is. They did the same thing the MC-012's and the MK series last year. most stores were out before you could get there.

And ya, got yer email Walt. I"m gonna be replacing toilet seats this afternoon, and hitting the beta tests hard. But I will reply later tonight to your email.
