What would I need for live performance?

I've been researching different equipment options over the weekend, and had my mind already set on Delta 1010 when someone told me its not compatible with laptops. Also, I realize that although I can record using my good old desk top, I will need a whole different set up for live performance...

For those who haven't read my previous thread, and those who have and replied, here is the question:

The music is a mixture of metal and techno. While there will be live guitar, bass and vocals, I'm planning to do all drums, keys and samples using ACID Pro 4.0. These samples will be running on a laptop at the same time with live instruments playing.

Can someone please give me ideal system specs for such application. Once again, it has to be a LAPTOP with WinXP and the program is ACID. I'm especially interested to find out what EXTERNAL sound card/inetrface/processor should I consider getting. I would like to stay within budget of $2000-3000 for the entire set up if possible.
