How to Quiet Noise from Digitech rp200

I have been using my Digitech rp200 guitar processor but have been getting too much noise while recording wet. If I record dry, then try to send and return the RP,the effects don't really work.Yes, I'm still in the darkages with my tascam and outboard effects.Should I run the RP thru my amp and then mic it? I have been running the RP direct into the tascam.

If I were you, as long as I have a pretty nice amp, I would always mic the amp rather than go direct. Direct just doesn't sound good because you need that amp stage in there somewhere. Of course there are exceptions to this rule like POD's and special recording pre-amps and such. If you have a gate, then that can help get rid of some of the static, at least when you're not actually playing. Also, try moving around to a different area while recording or trying different cords or something. There could some interference getting in there somehow.
