Behringer 2222fx, cakewalk, and acoustic guitars.

My problem involves recording acoustic guitar:
I am playing an old Ovation, recording it with an SM-57, plugged into my Behringer 2222fx, and going directly into my computer via Cakewalk 9. The problem is that the sound cuts out sharply. for example, say I played a single note: it would resonate fine for about a second, and then would drop sharply in volume. Ultimately, the recordings sound like crap. I haven't been able to find the proper information regarding this, but does the Behringer have some sort of noise gate on it that is causing this? Has anyone else experienced this?
