Audacity acting strange

Hey there, just joined the forum, and just started to catch the home recording bug again... 10 years after spending my entire high school career locked up in my room with a cheapo cassette 4-track.

To get started I'm messing around with Audicity, since it's free and all, but it's acting really strange. Can anyone advise about this:

I start a new project with a single stereo track, set the gain, click record, and... it pops up a new track and starts recording on that one. So the gain setting is useless.

Do I just need to RTFM? This is 100% non-intuitive behavior, so I thought I'd join a forum and ask.

Thanks,
Rob

Not to famlilier with Audacity, but I would imagine there has to be a setting which is telling it to open a new track each time you hit record. You might try to find that in the preferance/options and turn it off. Then you should be good to go.

Otherwise I think a couple peeps around here have used Audacity and might be more help. Just wait and see if you get a response.

And also, welcome to HRC. Hope ya enjoy your stay.
