Does anybody know about controlling samples through midi in pro tools?

I use pro tools and reason linked through rewire and do all my midi patterns in reason. I have a couple cool audio samples that I would like to bring into pro tools and control with my keyboard and I was wondering if there was a way to do that without having to use a soft sampler plugin like Kontakt. Is there a way to bring a piano sample into pro tools and map it to my keyboard?

From my experience thus far with PT and Midi, you have to bring everything in through recording on a midi track, through a pre-recorded sample that has been recorded to a .wav file or audio already, or from the instrument. If you have a keyboard that will allow you do download samples to it from your computer, I would go that rout caus its going to be the easiest to record directly from the source that way. :)

you might also want to drop by duc.digidesign.com and post on the boards and see if they have some suggestions for you on the PT boards. I have only been using PT for about 6 months now myself and am still getting a few ins and outs yet. hehe

hope this helps and goodluck.
