i have an echo layla sound card and am using cakewalk home studio. whenever i record, the playback has an echo effect to it. i've used a demo of cool edit and it didn't do it, so i guess there is some setting that is messed up. i've tried to find the problem, but have no idea what to do. any help would be nice. thanks.

Apr 26, 2004 10:23 am I'm not familiar with exactly how the echo layla works. I did run into something that produced a kinda 'echo' sound once when I had both my Aardvark and the windows sound device enabled. I got a loopback from the main out of the windows sound device since it was trying to do monitoring.
Probably nothing to do with what your experiencing and I know nothing about Cakewalk home studio or the layla.
I suppose I could make a joke about the 'echo' but that would be too easy. =)

May 09, 2004 05:43 pm In the windows control panel that pops up go to the options/recording portion and make sure the box for what you hear is not checked. This goes for the Layla as well. You should be able to see the Layla preferances there as well.
This is what is causing the echo to be re-recorded or heard when you record a new track.
the other problem could be you recording the main outs of your mixer if you are using one. And if that is the case recording from the mian outs will allow the tracks you are lietening to to be fed back into the tracks you are recording.
