I have a Studio 4 midi interface from Opcode. I would like to start putting sound to film via my Mac G4 (dual 1GHz) and Logic sequencer.
I believe I will need a SMPTE generator. Can my Studio 4 generate SMPTE? Will it also convert SMPTE into MTC (midi time code) or the other way around? Do I even need MTC? Do I need a SMPTE generator?
Thx

Apr 19, 2004 05:59 pm The newer versioin of that interface supports MTC as well as SMPTE. If your interface supports it you should have a section visable right on the front that will allow you to switch the SMPTE time code on and off. If it does not support it, then yes you will need a seperate box to do so. It will take the MTC and convert it to SMPTE code to be striped onto the film you are working on. I personally use MidiMan from M-Audio as it is built right into the unit with multiple formats and is able to read as well as stripe time code.
