Dropped by Musicians Friend scratch and dent center in MO on vacation. Kinda dissipointing. They are shipping all of their mics back to manufacturer now. Just not much in the way of recording gear. I saw about 8 MX9000's for around $300.00 that where marked "non working". Looked physically good. I debated on grabing one for a challange at that price, but really don't have the time. Still a lot of performance equipment however.

$300.00, really? At that price it might be worth a look into fixing one. I can get Behringer parts from a local outfit over in St.Paul. Man, I wish I had time to go down and hunt. I wonder if they show up online or not, maybe Ill look tommorrow.

Anyway, I got the innards of my desk all cleaned up and pretty after dumping alnost half a can of coke in it. Good and bad of it was it drained into the last four stereo input channels, but at the same time dumped right into the sub mix buss as well. It was kinda funny after it all though, a video of me slapping the kill switch over in the rack and then tearing cables out like a mad man, grabbing the thing and holding it upside down. as if it really was gonna do any good to just drain the fluids back out. And to beat all that, I ran out of canned air and had to run the dang air line in from the garage to finish the job. Then drying each little slider with tiny custom made rags that fit right into the slot. By the time I was done it was about 4 1/2 hours, including time to run to the shop and pick up a socket and adapter to spin the nuts off the I/O jack panel as well, since the main channel strip board dont come out without removing that first.

So I would love the challange of getting one of thosse sucker to work on. I got nothin better to do with my time.

OK, nuff rantin.

My God, I had no idea you went through that! Somehow I either missed or spaced that event. At the risk of sounding oneupmandhip, you really did a good thing pouring the coke out. The sugar content is just awfull to get out of most anything! Better to get it out while still suspended in a liquid.

I definately wish I would have had the cash, but being Christmas and having blown way too much already visiting the girls etc. there was no way.

I don't know how to advise on grabbing hold of one. The folks that where there working the floor the day I came in where not enthuiastic at all about helping. Very tight lipped, and no help what so ever. If you called directly I don't know what you would get. I don't know if they would help you pick the best of the litter or just grab and send one. And maybe, if they arn't advertising them on the net, they have no intention of shipping them.

If you are truely interested shoot me an email. I have an idea or two.

Ill let ya know after the holidays finish out here. I have been looking at changing the desk out for awhile now, I think we talked about how well you like your MX9000 a couple of times. The main reason is the need for more then 4 sub outs now and again. It would save me alot of time repatching and such. And my ony hesitation on the MX90000 is the fact all the inputs are on the back side which would mean I would need a skinny little elf to get behind it whenever the need would arise.

But I will let ya know next week as I have to do something in the next month or so.

Ya, the placement of the jacks on the back side are a real down side to the board. I too am limited on space. I even put mirror tiles behind the board to help out a little. That is a real pain in the bucket. And I really don't like patch bays for any signal pre-input per their suseptibility to noise inherent to the low level signal. Outside of that, I was supprised to see so many sitting there. Is there a problem with the board? Per my experience it is a fine board. Who knows. Interesting however.

I have never heard of any probs with them either. I know several others besides you who own them and a very happy with them. Mirrors would be good but I think I would be very limited on space as you can see if you look at the pic in my profile the height of the unit would come into play as well. But I am looking at rearrangeing the room anyway, so I may come up with an alternative.
