My problem isnt like everyone elses. My computer is recognising my DP-01 as a seperate driver (Local Disk E:) but there's nothing on it. Ive opened and closed it like im supposed to, so dont worry about that. I have saved things like im supposed to onto the FAT partition. Ive tried the procedures for exporting individual tracks as well as mastered tracks and the Local Disk E: never has anything in it. A lot of people are saying that it comes up as DP-01 on the computer and has folders in it, but i have none of this. Help would be so.... helpful. Im dying here.

OK Michael, I read through the manual for the DP-01 and cross referenced some search results against your issue.

I have a Tascam US-144, and I know how impossible their support is, for sure. I still have nagging issues after 3 years, and they refuse to do anything about them.

So for what its worth, here are my findings. I'm not very familiar with that piece of equipment, but I've done my best to find a simple solution. After almost an hour of reading, I found the same problem; the manual isn't printed correctly. Meaning an interpreter needs to be fired somewhere. Here's what I found:

1)The manual for this product isn't very well written at all. You should open the FAT partition on the DP-01 FIRST, BEFORE you connect the USB cable. If you do that, the PC will recognize the DP-01 without difficulty. If you follow the instructions in the manual, the PC will not recognize the DP-01.

2)First you record song/master. Then you export it. Then you must open TASCAM hard drive so it can be recognized by the PC (page 41 Open and Close). Then it will be recognized immediately.

I hope this isn't material you've already covered, but either way I tried. I love Tascam when the product is working. But when it isn't so help me if they were based in the USA.

Best of Luck!

Also, upon re-reading, your export should be to a drive other than the "E: Drive" that the Tascam set up. If you're saving to the same drive the music is already on, in this case, then you're over-writing the file with the same information. Could be wrong, but that's my interpretation from the manual.
