I am trying to move some old audio tape recordings of my first band into Garageband to get into iTunes. I have the tape deck plugged in to the 2track in audio on a Multimix12 Firewire, and the Multimix is hooked to a Mac running Garageband. All I want to do is to get the tapes in a single track on Garageband so I can split them up and commentate between the songs. Any help is appreciated.

Mar 13, 2010 02:07 am er, what is the stopping point? I'm assuming something doesn't work, because you started a thread on here.
Is it not getting into the PC? is it not getting into the mixer?
Please tell what steps you have tried, and where you are having problems.
Mar 13, 2010 03:30 pm It is getting from the deck to the mixer, because I can hear it through the monitors. It is not getting into Garageband. Can you record direclty from the 2track out on the alesis through firewire to the mac and garageband?

Mar 14, 2010 10:44 am 2track out? That's sending the summed audio OUT of the mixer.
You want the tape deck plugged into the 2track IN, i would assume.
But, assuming the tape is plugged into the 2track IN, and you're not getting audio, I'd switch over to the first 2 inputs. Plug from tape deck L & R to the channels 1 & 2 line inputs. Then tell Garageband to listen on a stereo track, which would be channel 1 & 2 from the mixer.
I'm not sure about if the mixer sends 2track IN to the firewire port. It may not, i guess. That may be the problem. I'd use channel LINE inputs before the 2 track anyways, but that's just me.
Looking at GB, adding new track, then looking down a lower right of screen gives input options, where you can select mono or stereo track.
