Replace existing samples in Cubase 5

Hi. I'm working on Cubase 5 and my main difficulty would be that i can't replace files that i used the first time.

For example, i open a project start making a track and down the road i realise that i haven't used the correct hi hat, snare, kickdrum or whatever and i want to replace it.

Is there a way to replace, let's say, the new drum kick without having to copy paste it all over the track again?

Well it depends on your sampling program. For instance, in superior drummer, if i wanted a new kick i could create a new kick drum *In S2.0* without having to do a thing to cubase. If it has some sort of mapping function, just trade midi notes.

Not explaining this very well, am i? lets say you had an acoustic kick mapped out on C1. All the midi parts were written in, with the kick as C1. If i had a nice sounding electronic kick on D4, I'd have two options. Neither would really take long either. In my sampler there is a screen labeled "mapping" which i could go into, and change the electronic kick from D4 to C1. "swap them out." Like that. Or I could go into the midi editor of cubase, highlight all the notes on C1 with one drag of the mouse, and move them up to D4. Did that make sense?

yeah but i'm guessing that you use a vst while i just import loops from FL or drag 'n drop the samples in Cubases's pool.

I mean in FL for instance i can drag 'n drop a different sample on the existing one and it would change automatically. Can i do a similar thing on Cubase?
