Recording issue on Boss BR-1600 (latency)

Hi guys. I am new here. I have a boss br-1600 and I am getting geared up to record a few original songs I have been wanting to record for a few years now, and here is my problem. When I attempt to play any instrument, drums, guitar, anything..I get a split second delay in when I pluck the string or hit the drum and the actual sound output through the speakers. I hate it! If I play and record with headphones plugged into boss br-1600 headphone jack I don't have this problem. But at times, I would like to play my electronic drum set along with a guitar and click track listening through the monitor speakers but anything that comes out the main line outputs has this little delay..it sux! Please let me know if there is a way to correct this on the boss. Thank you!
