Hello,

I want to get the best out of all my mic pre's I have and I am not sure whether to hook everything up via adat or wordclock.

My current set up is I have a Rme hammerfall 9652 soundcard with a presonus digimax lt, Art gold dmpa pre, jlm ba2 mic pre and a behringer ada8000. I use cubase sx3.

My best mic pre is the JLM audio BA2 which is a 2 channel analogue pre and I have that going line into the ada8000 for conversion with the ada8000 going adat into Rme soundcard.
The digimax is going adat into Rme also (that is the master) and the Art pre is going spidif into Rme card (it also could go adat but I decided to run spidif).

My question is , is this best way to have everything connected to get the best possible sound for what I use? Would connecting via wordclock make a difference, I am not familar with it.
Any help be much appreciated . Thanks

Well, word clock is strictly for timing and keeping all your hardware synced to a single clock source. So that is a moot point. I'm assuming you don't have all that digital hardware locked by sync to the digimax or the 9652?

So you are using the RME as the master then as well I will assume.

You simply need to make certain then all the digital component's are locked together either via word clock or through the digital. Word Clock is the most stable for the gear you have.
