How you hook it up is entirely dependent on what you're recording at that very moment.

so lets say i have my drums grouped to bus one on the board.
i run sub out one to the mbox?
and then switch on every instrument?

i'm a little confused too, how have you been recording if you're not sure how to hook this up?

That's kind of confusing too . . .

Seems that the m2p is 4 input (6 including spdif) so you can track 4 signals at one time (6 with digital)

Are you trying to record the whole band and keep the tracks separate? if so, then you'll need more inputs. If you're going to mix down the signals before recording them in PC, then you probably can do it, but be sure your signals are where you want them before you record, as you won't be able to edit them after, if they're in with something else.

What I would do, is connect the first four direct outputs to line inputs on the mbox. This will give you 4 tracks in your software. Now, get 4 mics on the drums, and get the mic set up as good as possible. Record this setup with the 4 mics, and you'll have 4 tracks in software for drums. You can record the drums with all people playing, as the drums will mostly overpower the other sounds, if the kit is close mic'ed. Plus the same playing will be added later, so no worries.

Now, connect up your guitars and bass to the mixer (either mic'ed or direct in) and record your guitars / bass.

Now, set up for recording your vocals. I'd do back up vocals after the lead.

Now you should end up with 10 tracks: 4 drums, 2 git, 1 bass, 1 lead vox, 2 backup vox.

Now you can edit and mix to your hearts content. Re-record add-in parts, or replacements, etc.

If your bands want to play all at once, then you'll end up with the whole sound all down in 4 tracks, say 1 for drums, 1 for guitars, 1 for bass, and 1 for vox. Not very easy to edit, since all the grouped signals will be living in one track.

...easy. Connect the instrument to one of them. Then connect that to another on the mbox. Load up the software and run the program! Tell the band to play music and then switch.

Then...profit!!!!

If you have all your drums running through the mixer and have them panned accordingly, route the drums to sub outs 1/2 for stereo and then connect them to input 1/2 on your mbox and record a stereo signal.

Is that what you are asking?
