i recorded one of my friends bands the other day and everything went smoothly...i rendered the uneffected tracks to an mp3 format and it was fine...i then went back into my daw (sony acid) and applied different compressions, eq's, and reverbs to the different tracks and it sounds AMAZING in the program, then when i render it to an mp3 it sounds scratchy and choppy...any ideas on what i need to change?

That said - How does it sound as PCM?
"MP3" and "Scratchy and choppy" wind up in the same sentence often... Not exactly what you'd want to judge sound quality with.
THAT said - Did you overprocess? If it sounded fine *before* you through all sorts of acoustical wonderment all over it, wouldn't it be logical to think that perhaps there's just too much going on? Does it sound "amazing" in the program and crappy as MP3 data on the same system? And if so, does rendering it to PCM sound normal?

Aug 19, 2009 07:53 pm It sounds like your system might have been having a hard time rendering the file as well. But as MM suggested did you over process it with the effect's you added?
What are the spec's of your PC, CPU speed and amount of RAM? And how many tracks was the file you were trying to render?
It could be as MM also stated any of at least 14,000 different things. We are just coming up with the most obvious to start with.
