Acid Pro 6.0 Quick Question!

Okay. This might have come up before, but I couldn't find it in the first couple of pages on here so I decided to write about it myself. I would have taken the time to read through all the pages but here is the deal.

My Desktop died on me a few months ago. It's what I used for all of my recording. I, like many self musicians/singers, own all of my preamps and recording software, digitally.

I have two rappers coming over tomorrow in the evening to record in my home studio but this is my dilema. I've used Audacity, Sonar Cakewalk PE7, Acid Pro...etc...Just seeing what I like. With Sonar, my Realtek audio drivers on my laptop cause issues. At first I thought it was my USB microphone, but I was told that shouldn't case the issue, it' most likely my onboard card. So I gave up on Sonar. Audacity works great and it's free BUT it's so limited and you can't really use VST's with it. major problem.

The issue with Acid Pro 6 is that when I import the MP3 instrumental, Add an audio track, Add my VST's and Plug-ins, Arm the track and hit Record...It doesn't start recording until I talk into the mic. I am trying to get it to record right off teh bat, as soon as the beat MP3 starts. Sometimes it will kick off immediatly but I'm not sure if that's because it heard background noise or what?!

I am just trying to figure out how the hell to get the recording track, to start as soon as the beat starts instead of at random times. I'm thinking their might be some kind of setting but I just installed Acid Pro 6 last night and I don't really have the time to shovel through manuals and how to's on Youtube...So any help or advice would be extreeeemeeelllly appreciate. Seriously!...Please write back! :)

P.S If you need to know my specs. Here are a few.

Mic - Samson C01U Studio Condenser Mic

Audio Driver - Realtek HD Audio V6.0.1

Laptop - HP Pavillion dv9800

And, if this issue IS a driver issue. Does anyon have any feedback on how Mixcraft is on quality and userfriendly? I don't really have a lot of time left to learn a new software but if Mixcraft will do the trick and it's fairly easy to get a vibe for AND it's good with VST's and plug-ins i might get it tonight instead.

Its not the software that is causing the problem. It all relates to the on board sound chip, the Realtek. It is not made for this type of work. It is made for basic single track recording. Not really made for recording and playback at the same time. Although it can and probably has worked in simple situation's it is not really capable of running in a multi track environment at all. It can playback well but not record well in other words.

So your kinda stuck there.

If you can find a WDM driver for it you might have luck running ASIO4ALL. But I doubt you will find a WDM driver for it.

And ya, I realize it says HD Audio and all that. HD is one thing. Multi track recording is another.

Yeah. I assumed so. I just installed Mixcraft and surprisingly it's extremely user friendly and works perfectly for what I need it to do, All of my FX and VST's are running very well on it. So I'll be using this until I come up with a solution to Sonar or Acid Pro.

I used Acid 6 for a long time and I never ran into that situation. I agree it sounds like a hardware issue. I would make an investment in an external USB audio interface.

Here's a list to get you started: www.zzounds.com...nterfaces--2424

Good luck!
