Midi from DR 880 to Play Vir2 Instruments?

OK, this is probably a really dumb question and also simple but I've done a lot of reading and I've never done anything with midi before. I'm using Cubase SX 3 and also Vir2 Virtual Instruments and just recently bought a Boss DR 880 and what I'm wanting to do is use the drum machine to play notes of different instuments that are loaded in the Kontakt/Vir2 program. I had a simple time getting my Roland JX-8P to work this way-but then again, it's a synth so it makes more sense. I guess I'm just not really sure of the assinging of channels between the drum machine and the Kontakt player within Cubase. Any help or info is greatly appreciated-thanks.

If you hook the midi out of the DR to a midi in of an interface going to the computer it should be able to see the trigger pads in Kotakt via the recording software or host program.

OK, thanks (again) Noize...
I think I just need to set the channels properly-and get reading the manuals again and with a lot more attention.

And I do believe that you can turn local control off on the DR. That will stop it from playing its own internal sounds and allow it to only send trigger pad data to your DAW.
