Tascam us122 no audio

Hi, If I plug my us122 into my pc with the usb and then plug a microphone into it should I then get an audio signal registering on the green light signal? because I am not! what am I doing wrong please ?

you may need a preamp if your signal isnt hot enough if a dynamic mic.

first try plugging in a guitar direct, or plug the line out from the amp into one of the line in.

this will let you know if its a mic problem or the actual device problem,
i myself have a 122, and infact used it less than an hour ago in a live situation, so i can say they are good little pieces of gear.

so try these ideas first, and if they dont work, let me know and ill keep helping you trouble shoot

Hi Nate,Thanks for replying. Had my mikes tested this morning at local music shop and their ok so the problem seems to be the inputs on the US 122, I have emailed Tascam to see what they say, have you any ideas?

well, sometimes with recording, you need higher levels, and dynamic mics wont always cut it, so they need something called a pre-amp, which boosts the signal,

a second issue may be if they are condenser mics, and need 48v of power, which you need to flick the little "phantom Power" switch where a little red light will come on.

one last thing i need to ask is, is this tascam the nice new shinny silver looking one?

or the older but perfectly fine one i have (lol) that has a blue strip down the middle?

if its the one i have, you sometimes need to flick the switches below the input volumes to mic, instead of line/guitar.

thats all i can think off off the top of my head, and im sitting here with it to my right.

so i can better help you. what mics do you have?
