ALESIS IO/2 latency

Hello All,

I would be grateful for some advice.

I have an ALESIS IO/2 audio interface that I bought to avoid latency problems. I am using cubase and have windows XP, 3 GB RAM, core 2 duo processor. I cannot be doing with any latency whatsoever. The recordings of my guitar along to a backing seem alright but I am sure there is a miniscule delay. I have tuned XP up for home recording and I would have thought that my computer is powerful to avoid problems with latency. Any suggestions (maybe adjusting buffer size?)? The makers of the ALESIS IO/2 claim that the interface allows 'zero' latency direct hardware monitoring? Is this truly possible. I cannot bear it if my guitar parts are even a hundreth of a microsecond delayed on the track.

Any advice much appreciated.

Best

Matt

Zero latency hardware direct monitoring is exactly that, monitoring. The actual recording should be getting to the track on time.

For tracking I keep my buffer down around 128, mixing you can turn it up a bit to avoid any crackles and the like.

Your recordings should turn out just fine with the unit and PC you have set up there.
