RE: Tascam 1082

Hello!

I am using the 1082 with CubaseSX3. The EQ gain when controlled from the 1082 is stepped in 1.5db increments. Also the EQ frequency stepped in 900Hz (approx) increments.

How can I change these values??

Your input is appreciated!

Well, you have the courtesy to respond. That's not very cynical.

Imagine turning the a gain pot on an analog mixer. The gain is continuously variable as you turn. With digital however, the gain increases by steps depending on the manufactures specs. Maybe 1 given manufacturer may designate .3db steps while another more precise manufacturer will make .1db increments. In my case with the parametric eq's, as I turn the knob to increase the EQ gain, it leaps from 0db-1.5db-3db-4.5db etc. What if I want only .6db of gain??? Or 3.7???

Maybe you have had or have used a receiver for a home theater where the volume control is not continuously variable. It is very annoying when the volume changes by 3db steps.

Now, with hope, that my point has been made clear, how can I can the 1.5db steps in the EQ gain to a value much smaller? Likewise with the frequency select, how can I reduce the size of the increments?

Ok, since my first post I realized that in the 12khz range the increments were about 900hz. Obviously that wouldn't apply in the lower frequencies. Lets just say that its 8% change to the next step. So, if the current setting is 100hz then the next step would either be 108hz or 92hz. What if I want 104hz??? Or 97hz??

It hurts my ears....

Can you use a different EQ. Something other than the one with the 1082. There's lots to choose from out there.

OK, a little more detail might help sort this out.

Are you talking about using a VST EQ plugin in Cubase? If so there should be a setting in either the Tascam that will allow a key combination such as holding an Alt key and turning the knob which would allow more minute settings.

In Sonar when I run a controller I can simply set up a key combination that will allow me to do larger steps with just the knob or smaller steps while holding an alternative key and turning the knob.

These settings are usually assigned in an options menu. But they should be available there somewhere.

Yes, The 1082 is controlling the VST EQ. I checked the options for a place to make adjustment, checked the Help file and even pulled out some of my hair, which I have little anyway, and nothing helped.

But I think that you are onto something, Noize. I did NOT check the Hotkeys. Maybe that will shed some light. I think that it will be in Cubase rather than Tascam.

Thank you!!

I see... I thought that's what you meant but I wasn't sure... What I would do if the Key strokes don't work, Mix in the box. Get it close then use your mouse for the nit pick stuff.
