I am interested in picking one up for my solo acoustic work (maybe even a pair at the current price of $400) and wondered if anyone here has em? I found a couple reviews online but would love to hear from some local HRC folk.

Cheap right now, must have just restocked also as they have today listed as shipping. I was thinking one of those and then the 7 mic pack would be a nice addition for under $300.

A guy at work has those. He said they are better than most $1000 kits he's used. Haha.

Look up Seraphim Calling from San Antonio on MySpace. They were used for the drums in it, I THINK... I'll ask him tomorrow.

Tripps, I own one as well and dearly love it. And yes, I would easily compare it to a $1000 mic anytime. If you can wait until Friday night I can give you a run down. Otherwise I will try to get something about it here later tonight.

Just needed some quick impressions from the HRC. At the price, I was almost ready to take the plunge no matter what, I figured I could find a use for it somewhere.

What are some of your favorite tasks to use it on Noize? I'm thinking it will kickass on my acoustics, maybe some vox, and as a room mic for drums\guitar cabs.

Hey Tripps, sorry it took so long. Got back last night from seeing Tuna in MO and was bushed.

Anyway, I really liked it on female vocal but it was just as smooth on male vox. I was really impressed by the character of the mic itself. Very smooth response and nothing really stands out as being chopped or boosted on the vox at all.

I was told not to use it as a close mic on anything with extreme percussive's like direct on an amp cab or close miccing horns or the like. Although I did try it on several different horns at about 16" and it was amazing. Granted the room was perfect for doing it that way but I think even in an not so perfect room it would do the same or close. The horn sound again were very smooth and almost old school sounding to be honest.

On a guitar cab I tried it again at about the 16 to 18 inch mark and it was awesome mixxed in with a close mic. I used more of the K6 then the close mic and it was very warm and picked up the thickness of the tone we were using.

I gave it a quick try in the air in front of a drum kit and was amazed. We actually mixxed the tracks with that single mic of the drums and it was a very cool sound. Granted, again this was in a perfect room to do that but I still think in a simply good room it would garner the same effect.

On hand percussion it was so mellow sounding. Again that kind of old school sound. Reminded me of very old Santana sound's.

I used it in the air for a room mic on a few other things including a 4 person background track and it was pretty cool as well. Its funny but it really is noise free when I was using it like that. I was thinking I had a lot of gain on it and it was going to be whizzing a like a top but it was pretty darn quiet to be honest.

On acoustic guitar it really shined though. I would love to try a pair of them for sure. But I did an A/B on using the K6 on the sound hole and a Josephson e22S on the neck and then reversed that. I liked it both ways to be honest. I would not normally use the e22s on the sound hole at all but it was for fun and really surprised me how well the K6 sounded in both position's.

But it really grabbed the tone and full body sound of the guitar very well.
