Hey all,
I'm heading down the final stretch for this semester at school. One of many assignments was to track, mix and master a song by a band. I ended up using our session drummer's band, Uncle Nestor.
Hopefully you think the song kicks ***. I need a good grade on this to make it through to the next semester.
I have less than a week to hand this in so I would really appreciate any comments that you may have. I have not yet mastered this so that will give it a bit more punch.
The song is called Drive Away and it is in my profile.
Thx

Jul 31, 2008 02:03 pm Well damn, I'm at work on doo doo speakers and it sounds darn good. Once mastered this will definitely shine :) Levels are good, tones are great and vox sound perfect for the style.

Aug 01, 2008 08:38 pm I really liked the separation of the electric rhythm/lead guitar and the fiddle. That made it sound huge. The drums I am still liking the sound of for sure, they have a nice country sound to them.
Overall the sound is mostly there. It sill has something that is not melding well in the lower end, not muddy but just seems odd. I am sure it will go away in mastering though for sure as it isn't bad by any means so take that with a grain of salt with your beer.
I'm still liking this one a great deal and would buy this stuff for sure.

Aug 02, 2008 06:38 pm Hey guys, thanks for the comments. I've uploaded what I believe will be the final version that I will hand in. I can't spend much more time on this as I have several other projects that I have to get done by Tuesday. I think that is part of the exercise. How well do we adhere to a schedule and under pressure. Anyhow, glad you like it. It looks like we are going to make an album together so that is cool. They have about 19 songs and if they are all as good as this one then it will make for a hell of a CD.

Aug 02, 2008 11:18 pm Had a quick listen in headphones and liked still liked it. I will listen again tomorrow on the monitor's to be sure. I'm thinking it should be fine. The fiddle seemed to be a bit quieter in this mix, or was that just me?

Aug 03, 2008 08:00 pm BH, I would honestly say go with it with this one. Anything I would pick at is a mastering thing. I do still really like this one for sure.
