Effects Automation

I'm working with a delay as a bus effect and I was wondering if there was a way to automate specific parameters in the effect panel itself, or a way to automate the effects without affecting the source signal? For instance, putting an automation envelope on the effect but not the audio, or maybe automating the crossfeed and mix in the effect panel itself?

Reaper does this in spades.

Just select the parameter of whichever effect you want, and start drawing.

I've automated a compressor ratio once. That was kinda neat.

But you could automate anything that is variable in the effect.

I would think that this is available in other major daws. Though I've not worked in too many, so can't really say.

I'm not sure it's available in Sonar 7PE... I guess I'll have to wait for Noize or dB to chime in. I would think Sonar would have something like this, but then again you never know.

After a bunch of searching, I found this article: www.cakewalk.com/Tips/TechTipSept01_1.asp

Just in case anyone asks this question again, here's the resolution for Sonar 7. :)

Keith, sorry I wasn't here earlier. Yes Sonar does do it in more spades then anyone else.

In fact Cakewalk was the first to be doing it years ago in a computer DAW with the DX stuff.

I should add that is an old article as well. VST and VSTi which are capable can be automated as well. Most stuff out there these days can be automated in Sonar now.
