hey

i'm a bit new to this whole thing, but i've always tried to record using my mic set up to my computer (win. xp), and i have the systems settings (the computers, not auditions) on the recording controls to mono, sterio and cd recording down to zero and have the mic audio selected and to the max. but i've done everything from lowering the volume in my head phones so that the instrumental doesn't get onto the recording. i just have a pretty simple thing....instrumental and record...but i can't manage to get the instrumental not to get onto the recording...how do i go around that? i've also selected the whole zero dc thing, but still i dont' know..please helP!

thank you

shayan

Pop over to www.Therockfactory.net . Michelle was a member here, and she is the undisputed queen of recording and Adobe Audition in New Zealand :-). If shes got time I'm sure she'll help.

What sound card are you using? It sounds like your using your PC's Soundblaster or a Realtek AC97 etc.. etc..

99% of the time this is because people have "what u hear" or "Stereo Mix" selected in the recording control panel instead of "line in". The first track always records fine as their is nothing else going on, but once it's time to record track two is when it turns up.

Now I know you say you have all the volumes lowered, but I am going to guess those are playback volumes. When you are in the windows control panel you need to click options -> Properties and then select "record".

Actually, here is the same info I posted for another person. He was having a different problem but the information is relative.

I used 1.5 up until about 2 years ago, if that does not help lemme know and we can look further.
