Pod X3 to replace my USB Interface

Hello all. So I'm thinking of getting a Line 6 Pod X3 for recording. I currently use a Tascam USB 144 recording interface. So since the X3 can process guitar, bass, and vocal (mic) with a direct USB out, couldn't the X3 conceivably replace my interface?
(I don't record any live drums)

And if anyone has experience with the X3, how do the specs for the USB compare to other interfaces (sample rate, etc). I haven't been able to find this information.

Thanks in advance.

Well I just found out that there is no phantom power on the X3, so my vocals would still need to go through my interface.
That pretty much takes care of my question, but if anyone has thoughts on the X3 and/or XT in recording I'd love to hear them.

I have the POD XTLive, not the X3, however with the XTL I've never been able to use the USB interface with success. They may have worked on this issue with the X3 though, IDK. I always use the line out.

Thanks for the info BeerHunter. The more I look at it the more I think I'll get an XT or XTL. I love my bass head (Ashdown, sweet sweet Ashdown) and if I have to record vocals through my interface anyway...

So my next question for you, besides the obvious live advantage between the XT and XTL, are there any other differences? I don't gig anymore (of course who knows in the future), so I figured I'd save myself $100. Any thoughts?

Actually I've never really compared them before, however, here the best source of this info can be found on the Line6 site

Although the older models had USB I don't think direct recording was what they had in mind (more for live sound or into your current interface), hence the toneport line.

It seems with the X3 they are going for a full fledged recording, play it through an amp, or straight through the PA type device... very cool.

Browsing their page... all processing done on the device itself to reduce CPU usage and it has independent effects per channel. That sounds pretty darn good to me. The phantom power really is a killer though... Throw in PP and 6 more channels and they woulda sold me one :)

Anyway, it sound like you might want to look into the Toneport line.

For what you are looking to do you may want to look into the Toneport UX-2 from Line 6. I use both a fully loaded PODxt and the UX-2 and love em both.
