Dear HRC community. For some time now I have been expedriencing problems with my Multimix. Firstly, when I use the CD to download the drivers I get the frequent audio droputs during playback. Fiddling with the buffers etc doesn't seem to make any difference. When I download the drivers from alesis.com the recording stops and I get the message "can't start the ASIO driver" or smth. I'm using the Multimix with HP PC notebook (Evo N1020v, 1,6 GHz Intel Celeron, 512 Mb RAM, Windows XP) and Cubase SX. I'm grateful or any advice that would help me solve this. Lots of thanks in advance! Teet

Feb 10, 2008 10:16 pm OK, well the frequent audio drop outs are probably partially being caused by the lower amount of RAM you have on the laptop. Cubase SX I believe recommends a minimum of 1 gig of ram and that is minimum.
Fiddling with the buffers should make a difference for sure. Especially during playback.
I am guessing that the driver pack you downloaded and are installing is faulted somehow. I suggest trying to DL them again from Alesis and do a fresh install of them. One thing to remember is when installing the updated drivers or any drivers after un installing is to make sure and check the registry to be sure you have removed all the components from the old install.
Feb 11, 2008 07:13 am Thanks for a reply! I wasn't aware of the min 1 gb requirement.. I started off with M Audio using the same laptop and that worked OK. Multimix came in when I wanted to increase the no of inputs. Also, some time ago the present combination (Multimix, Cubase and the computer) worked fine so I reckon that I must have missed something when starting over with installing everything on a computer (I had to re-boot the system). Regarding the old components I've done what you're suggesting, i.e. to erase all old components (I've searched the HD via Windows search and erased what has been found).
