boss br 1200 home recording studio problem

Hi there

I have recorded a few songs on the above machine. However although a couple have turned ok, everything I produce now seems to be generally not good quality, somewhat noisy etc. When I listen to them on the BR1200 my songs sound really great. But the problem comes when copying onto cd and playing on a normal stereo. They sound amateur over the speakers. I have tried using speaker modelling to see how they will hear but it doesnt help. Although my tracks are not peaking and are often normalised I am wondering if it would help if I just recorded everything at a lower level to begin with. Would be grateful for any help.

Another problem is with REAPER. I can't seem to get it to play back what I record and I also cannot get the virtual midi keyboard to work. I have dowloaded ASIO4ALL have tried every which way.

Any help on either issue would be appreciated.
