need help with tascam us-144 and cubase le!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey i am new to cubase and im having heaps of problems. first i cant hear anything out of my headphones connected to the phones output in the tascam. the output is set to the us-144
.also my mic which is an cheap mic not a condenser mic is not being picked up by cubase. it is plugged into the 'left line in ' input but all i can find in cubase is analog and digital left and rights. and finaly can you import sounds from your keyboard to cubase eg. string synths.
the whole thing is starting to **** me!
any help would be much apreciated

First off, you need to run the mic through a pre amp before it gets to the 144 or it won't have much of an audible signal. the pre will boost it to a usable level.

Line input will only accept line level signals and the mic is not at that level.

You can't actually import them but you can record what you play through the keyboard depending on what exactly it is.
